Peakbagging 4ks

What’s on your bucket list? Anyone who has hiked in the Northeast has probably heard about New Hampshire’s 4000 footers. They are a list of 48 mountains in New Hampshire's White Mountains that have peaks reaching elevations of at least 4,000 feet (1,219 meters). Peakbagging is the pursuit of climbing to the summit of a specific list of mountains, often categorized by height or other criteria. In the case of New Hampshire’s 4000 footers, it’s about conquering some of the most iconic and challenging peaks in the Northeast.

From the rugged slopes of Mount Washington itself to the breathtaking vistas atop Mount Lafayette, each summit offers its own unique rewards and challenges. More than 15,000 people have finished hiking them all with more completing every day! For some, joining the AMC Four Thousand Footer Club is a journey that spans their lifetime. Others are challenged to break the record for the Fastest Known Time. Is now your turn?

Many of the trailheads for accessing New Hampshire’s 4000 footers are a short drive from Mount Washington Regional Airport. Your aircraft and one of several local hiker shuttle services provide easy access. So, pack your hiking gear, lace up your boots, and get ready to experience the ultimate high-altitude adventure in the heart of New Hampshire’s wilderness.
